In Italy you can sing all you want

Italy has given to world names are: Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Joe Lynn Turner ( Joseph Lynn Linquito), Jon Bon Jovi «Bon Jovi» (and other participants of group) many and many other Italians living in the USA, England, Australia, Canada, etc. (will forgive us who we have not mentioned here). Italy indoubtedly will give to the world and to the future many great scientists, musicians, actors, artists!

We have got acquainted with Italian group Suinage on the Internet. We wanted to know from guys what occurs on the Italian rock stage today.

Powerpop.Ru: Hi, Pilli, Ariel, Flavio! How's life in general? The 2006 year will end through 1,5 month. Tell to our readers what this year was for group "Suinage". How many performances were given by group during the warm period of the year?

Suinage: Well, we didn't play a lot this summer, we've been in vacation, stopped by writing new songs for the album and just played few shows in our area.

Powerpop.Ru: Do the Italian admirers of modern music love the power pop style and related styles? Are they well know similar music? In Russia such all styles of similar music format name the pop rock!

Suinage: There's not a real powerpop scene in italy, just very few bands, and sometimes is difficult to relate to the different bands we use to play with. In fact we developed a special attitude that bring us to play with hardcore, heavy-metal, hip-hop, techno bands!!!

Powerpop.Ru: Tell please shortly about the most popular Italian groups in Italy. Certainly in all countries there are groups who love among most persons, but as a rule this groups have interesting and original sound. Tell about the most known Italian groups which are not addressed to the mass listener...

Suinage: A bunch of people we do believe in are: Litfiba, Jovanotti, Edoardo Bennato, Claudio Baglioni, Giorgio Gaber, Zucchero, Eros Ramazzotti. These are bands in which we are really into and who we'd like to thank because of their great power of innovation and experimental attitude, things that helped us, as italian, to become one of the most important musical scene in the whole world.

And yeah, there seriously are a bunch of great bands in who believe in: The Rituals, Leeches, Mojomatics, Lactis Fever, Bad news, merci Miss Monroe and many others. Don't forget to support the Italian scene, it would be great to play together with Russian bands or to find some friends and help each other to spread our names around!

Powerpop.Ru: So has historically developed, that last 40 years musical business of England and USA is ahead on a planet and dictates a fashion. Even the Australian, Canadian names are mass known in the world became those due to the British or American sound recording labels. And if many world-known artists have not sang on the native language they would never been known by most listeners as Abba (Se), Scorpions (De), Golden Earring (Nl), Ah-a (No), King Diamond (Dk) and many, in different years... To this day lot of groups in the different countries are compelled to sing in English, what to expand an audience... As you think will the situation change sometime?.. Will be come such time when the language of the executor are not important for mass popularity and world popularity, but will be important an interesting original musical material?

Suinage: The situation will never change, if you choose rock'n'roll you have to sing in English. In Italy that's brilliant, because you can say whatever you want and no one will give a shit about what you are screaming in the mic.

Powerpop.Ru: What is your opinion about do Italian power pop groups have a future... Does modern guitar music lops in Italy? Does it mass claimed today?

Suinage: Yeah, certainly people here now have developed a new taste in music, since '60s Italy really had the chance to spread its name in the international scene, but all these great bands/songwriters were obscured by some huge names in which labels used to spend a lot of money. Now the situation changed a lot, there are a lot of different scenes all around Italy, and bands good enough to rule in the international musical landscape. The last obstacle is represented by majors, which are slowing down everything producing things that none in the world should listen. ;) Anyway, thanks to indie labels and to great people who really believe in it I'm sure we're gonna conquer a place in the international scene. Yeah!

Powerpop.Ru: In Russia all conditions are created that musical business would not develop. Thousand musicians "stew in own musical microcosms" (stew in one's own juice) and only due to the Internet have an opportunity to acquaint with the creativity those whom it can be interesting... In my opinion from my side there is a very similar situation in Italy ... What do you tell in this occasion... Are there millions people who dance in huge dancing today in Italy and only thousands there who have need to go on performance(statement) of guitar group???

Suinage: Yeah, we think that Russia and Italy and many other countries now are struggling not to be (musically) discriminated from USA, UK and Canada. There are just two different ways to react: we can move in another country and try to spread your name around, otherwise we must work hard to make people believe in you and in rock'n'roll in general. It's not that simple sometimes, but we need to create our spaces, to open new clubs, to make people wanna dance!
